Description :	Ces restes proviennent d'un ou probablement de plusieurs groupes (la Visitation, l'Annonciation) et présentent une polychromie où dominent les tons bleu, rouge et brun.

Historique :	Ces oeuvres fragmentaires mais de grandes qualité avaient été emmurées dans les grandes niches du narthex et retrouvées par l'architecte diocésain, lors de la démolition des tours carrées de la cathédrale au milieu du 19e siècle. La technique de la terre cuite polychrome maîtrisée par les artistes italiens venus en France, la mode vestimentaire et la souplesse des drapés rattachent ces oeuvres aux créations de la première Renaissance. Doit-on les rattacher au mécénat de l'évêque Jacques d'Amboise (1505-1516) qui portait comme ses frères un goût particulier à l'art italien ? Ces oeuvres sont présentes dans l'inventaire mobilier dressé en juin 1944, de l'ancienne agence aménagée par l'architecte Eugène Viollet-Le-Duc dans la tour sud ouest de la cathédrale alors qu'il dirigeait les travaux de façade (Christine Labeille).
